It’s been five months since Mipac established its partnership with Aspen Technology (AspenTech), and now one of AspenTech’s solutions – the Aspen Mtell® software – is about to be introduced to one of Mipac’s key clients.
Aspen Mtell®, one of the main products showcased at Aspen Technology’s OptimizeTM 24 Conference this month, is a predictive maintenance solution that monitors asset performance, identifies issues and prescribes detailed actions to mitigate and solve future problems.
Mipac Business Development Manager, Dennis Grundel, says that representing Mipac at Optimize24 gave him even better insights into this technology, enabling him to easily recommend it as a solution to Mipac clients:
“Delegates [at the conference] spoke a lot about the positive user experience they’d had with Mtell, mentioning how easily it integrated into their existing systems and how the straightforward set up and configuration allowed them to quickly start monitoring critical equipment,” he noted.
“According to several delegates, the software is great at accurately predicting failures, meaning that low false alarm rates allow maintenance teams to focus on genuine issues and avoid unnecessary downtime.
“Hearing these kinds of customer success stories gives me confidence in recommending this kind of software solution to our clients, especially those looking to introduce Advanced Process Control (APC) solutions to optimise their operations.”
For Mipac key client Ok Tedi Mining Limited, the recommendation of Mtell® was the outcome of a study to find the best predictive maintenance technology for this particular site.
“We have had a positive, long-term working relationship with Ok Tedi, and we know the site very well,” explains Mipac Project Manager, Ashish Mahajan. “I’m really confident that Mtell® will bring great benefits to the operations and productivity of the site and its systems.”
Also covered in detail during the Optimize 24 conference sessions were Aspen P21 (a data historian) and Aspen DMC3TM (advanced process control). As Dennis said, it was great that these sessions not only delved into the technical aspects of these products and solutions, but also highlighted their business value.
And, whilst there weren’t many mining or mineral processing industry attendees at the conference, Dennis noted that AspenTech’s solutions apply to many industries and the other topics covered throughout the event – including digital transformation (to improve asset and equipment health, predict equipment failures and improve planning for shutdowns) and decarbonisation carried cross-industrial relevance and importance.
“The mood overall was really positive and future-oriented,” Dennis said. “I’m looking forward to sharing my learnings from this event and AspenTech’s products with our clients and continuing our positive relationship with AspenTech.”
