CellView® Snapshot
- Wireless communication for easy installation and reduced cabling costs.
- Continuous and accurate monitoring of cell voltage, detecting short circuits early.
- Scalable - just add more monitoring units as required.
- Durable construction withstands harsh tankhouse environments
- Long battery life between 5-10 years.
Add-ons include:
- Customisable and configurable operator interface.
- Seamless integration with existing plant systems through an OPC interface.
How It Works
Wireless cell monitors are mounted on each cell, measuring cell voltage and, optionally, temperature.
Data is transmitted through a robust mesh network optimised for long-term use in hot, corrosive tankhouse environments.
The system integrates with data historians and other platforms for comprehensive reporting and analysis.
Add-ons to the standard CellView setup include a central operator interface that displays real-time data when used in conjunction with AVEVA PI Vision or the Mipac MPA Suite of mineral processing applications . This enables operators to monitor cell voltage trends, both live and historical, quickly identifying and correcting shorts.
Why Choose CellView® for your Tankhouse
Early Short Circuit Detection
Real-time voltage monitoring enables proactive detection and correction of short circuits, minimising high anode scrap rates. This is especially useful for efficiently allocating labour to the worst-performing cells and sections.
Optimised Process Control
Continuous monitoring of cell voltage provides insights into specific cell performance, facilitating early shorts detection and removal and maximising current efficiency. CellView® also provides immediate feedback on the effective correction of shorts.
In-Depth Process Monitoring
Cell voltage monitoring can also help identify process issues like temperature, reagent, or electrolyte flow problems. CellView® also signals anode passivation and allows real-time tracking across multiple circuit sections to detect common effects, such as temperature or reagent inconsistencies.
Historical trends can highlight cathode quality problems, such as those caused by stopped cell flow, which may not be evident until harvesting.
Lower Operational Costs
Wireless installation and long battery life minimise cabling and maintenance costs.
What our clients say
CellView®: Tackling Tankhouse Challenges Head-On
Mipac’s CellView® is a cutting-edge wireless monitoring system designed to solve many of the operational and technical challenges that electrorefining and electrowinning tankhouses face.
Here’s how CellView® helps mitigate these challenges and enhances operational efficiency:
1. Short Circuit Detection and Prevention
Short circuits are one of the most persistent issues in tankhouses, reducing current efficiency and cathode quality. CellView® addresses this by:
- Real-time voltage monitoring detects and flags short circuits early, minimising high anode scrap rates and uneven metal deposition.
- The system pinpoints the cell location of short, allowing operators to quickly focus their efforts on the most problematic cells and sections.
- Operators receive immediate feedback on their corrective actions, optimising labour efficiency and reducing downtime.
2. Process Optimisation
CellView® goes beyond short detection by enabling process optimisation by:
- Continuous monitoring of cell voltage provides granular insights into cell performance, helping identify underperforming cells.
- The system can indicate process anomalies such as electrolyte flow inconsistencies, temperature fluctuations, or reagent imbalances.
- Long-term trends analysis highlights recurring issues, such as cathode quality problems caused by poor electrolyte flow through the cell, enabling preventative action.
3. Cost Efficiency
Operating costs in tankhouses can quickly escalate. CellView® contributes to cost savings in several ways:
- Wireless installation reduces the need for extensive cabling, lowering installation costs and minimising infrastructure complexities.
- Low maintenance thanks to long battery life (5–10 years) and robust construction,
- CellView® is designed to scale. It allows for quickly adding units as the tankhouse expands, avoiding costly overhauls.
4. Supporting Safety
Uniform current distribution across the tankhouse reduces the risk of equipment stress and hazardous conditions. By proactively identifying and addressing shorts, CellView®:
- Contributes to a safer operating environment for workers.
- Reduces the likelihood of cell or plate damage caused by electrical irregularities.
5. Integration and Ease of Use
The intuitive interface and minimal training requirements ensure operators can quickly adapt the system.
Tankhouses often face challenges integrating new technologies into existing setups, but CellView® ensures a seamless transition. In its extended form, the CellView® package can include an OPC interface that integrates with existing plant systems, data historians, and platforms for comprehensive reporting.
6. Environmental Benefits
By improving current efficiency and reducing cathode production losses, CellView® helps reduce the environmental impact of tankhouse operations:
- Improved current efficiency translates to reduced energy consumption, supporting sustainability goals
Why CellView® is Essential for Tankhouse Operations
CellView® transforms tankhouse management by combining precision monitoring, ease of use, and actionable insights. With its ability to detect and address key issues like short circuits, process inefficiencies, and operational costs, CellView® not only enhances performance but ensures long-term reliability, safety, and sustainability.
By choosing CellView®, operators gain a reliable partner in overcoming tankhouse challenges, ensuring their refining processes achieve their full potential.
