Mipac Senior Systems Engineer Tim Hausler has been selected to deliver a paper about management strategies at MetPlant 2013, which will be held in July in Perth, Australia.
Winner of the AusIMM New Professional Award 2012, Tim will discuss how to deliver a successful engineering project in the context of working overseas, providing pointers for plant owners and engineering service providers to achieve efficient, effective results for complex projects.
“I will elaborate on my experiences working on Mipac’s plant-wide control system for the new base metals smelting and refining plant which is part of the Kazzinc New Metallurgy Project in Kazakhstan,” Tim says.
“My paper will also refer to the development of new technology in the form of Mipac’s cell monitoring system, CellView®, as well as its installation and commissioning at Kazzinc.”
Tim will consider client expectations and how to meet them, as well as cultural differences and how to make them work to an engineer’s advantage.
“I will also look at working with translators,” Tim says. “They can make or break you so it pays to make an effort to get along and try to understand each other, not just each other’s language.”
