We’re excited to announce the launch of Mipac Inc. in Tucson, Arizona. Strategically located in the heart of the US Copperbelt, our new entity is perfectly positioned to serve the growing demand for mining expertise in North America, ensuring rapid response times and tailored solutions that meet specific local needs.
Along with a well-established industry in base metals, North America is now growing an extensive portfolio of new mining projects, spanning traditional precious metals like gold and silver, as well as ferrous and non-ferrous metals such as copper, iron ore, lead, zinc, and nickel. As the world shifts towards a renewable energy future, demand for these critical minerals is poised to skyrocket.
Australian Matt Bott, Lead Electrical, Instrumentation, and Control Systems Engineer, leads our expansion into this new home market. Matt will also lead our growing presence in the USA, bringing his deep knowledge of mineral processing operations and technical and project delivery skills to serve and provide value to our clients in the North American region.
Q&A with Matt Bot
Matt Bot let Mipac know his thoughts on his recent relocation to Tucson.
What motivated you to want to make the move from Australia to the US?
The challenge of establishing a new office and taking the next step in my career.
What were your initial feelings when you landed in the US?
I really hope summer ends soon!
What immediate goals have you set for yourself in the first few months?
To build relationships within the industry and promote Mipac’s capabilities.
What support did Mipac and your colleagues provide to facilitate your move and adjustment to the US?
Mipac has been very supportive during the relocation process. It was a bit of a learning curve but they helped make the transition as smooth as possible.
What challenges have you faced during the relocation process?
The biggest challenge was figuring out what to take with us! We condensed all our belongings into four suitcases so it had to be pretty important to make the cut.
What are you most excited about regarding your new role and location?
The opportunity to gain a different perspective on project delivery and engineering.
What are you most looking forward to exploring or experiencing in the US?
We’re excited to head to the snow once winter comes around. There are some great ski resorts within a stone’s throw of Tucson.
What are you looking forward to eating in Tucson?
