Mipac is to open an office in Vancouver, Canada in October this year.
“Creating a permanent presence in northern America gives Mipac an opportunity to better support important clients such as Xstrata Technology,” Mipac managing director Eddie DeRivera says.
“An on-ground presence in Canada will also expose us to project opportunities for new clients, give us the chance to broaden our scope of services across mining and oil and gas industries and better promote our tankhouse solutions.”
The Canadian office will be led by senior systems engineer Ryan Twible and he will be supported by Mipac directors and management.
“I have almost 20 years’ experience in electrical work, including 12 years in engineering,” Ryan says.
“I became a qualified electrician in 1997 and moved to engineering in 2000 taking a post with Xstrata Mount Isa Mines as instrument project officer. Later I worked with Yokogawa as Queensland lead engineer before joining Mipac as a senior systems engineer in 2008.”
Bolstering his practical experience, Ryan holds an advanced diploma in industrial automation and is currently studying towards a Bachelor of Technology (Electrical Engineering).
“Ryan has worked on numerous projects, creating significant efficiencies for our clients,” Eddie says.
“He has great rapport with people and the combination of his hands-on and theoretical skills means he knows how to derive the best-possible outcomes for our clients.”
In Canada, Ryan will manage all of Mipac’s Canada-based projects as well as a team of specialist engineers.
“We will soon seek to recruit Canadian engineers to our Vancouver office and I expect Brisbane-based engineers to be given the opportunity to undertake secondments to Canada as part of their career development,” Eddie says.
