As part of Mipac’s commitment to quality and ISO 9001:2000 certification, it has invested in AVEVA Instrumentation™ technology which is delivering immediate benefits to clients.
The instrumentation design database tool is being successfully implemented on a number of Mipac projects, including the GPM Gold Project Albion Process™ plant in Armenia.
“Mipac first used AVEVA on an oil project and recognised the technology’s capacity to deliver efficiencies across a range of industries,” Mipac Engineering Manager Jon Burton says.
“Since then Mipac has purchased its own licences and has used technology on a number of different projects including a gold processing plant, a zinc filter plant upgrade and several IsaMills™.
“AVEVA Instrumentation™ has changed our way of carrying out design. It uses a data-based approach to design which improves efficiency, eliminates duplication and reduces the capacity for human error, reducing checking time. On the GPM project, the database has allowed us to significantly reduce man hours to complete the instrument design.”
The system also integrates closely with Microsoft Excel. This is helpful because many clients provide design input formats in a Microsoft format. AVEVA Instrumentation™ allows data to be easily imported, saving time and reducing errors associated with data entry.
“It also allowed us to present project deliverables other than drawings to the client and the project team as a whole,” Jon says. “For example, procurement tracking reports can be easily generated from the AVEVA database, eliminating double-handling of information between designers, buyers and clients.”
