Mipac has successfully trialled a cost-effective production down time monitoring system which uses existing AVEVA PI System (formerly OSIsoft PI System) data to give valuable insight into plant availability and asset utilisation.
The addition of RtDuet, a down time and overall equipment efficiency (OEE) tracking and reporting solution, generates downtime reports crucial to the client’s proactive asset maintenance program, increasing throughput.
Mipac is now implementing the downtime reporting software across the client’s plant at a fraction of the cost of other major vendors’ solutions.
The trial involved a short, simple scoping study. The data gathering exercise was conducted on site to define the extent of downtime monitoring requirements, identify the required triggers, and determine reporting requirements. The study generated a functional design document to ensure the client achieved their requirements through the implementation phase.
RtDuet relies on the AVEVA PI infrastructure and uses asset framework technology, has web-based administration and data entry, and is seamlessly integrated into the PI System.
Mipac’s client now enjoys real-time monitoring of down time events which enables managers and supervisors to make quick, accurate decisions based on KPIs such as availability, utilisation and OEE.
“If a plant already has an AVEVA PI system, adding RtDuet is a cost-effective way to generate information about real time, down time, up time and event tracking,” Mipac Business Development Manager Darren says.
“This helps decision makers to optimise performance, reduce down time and increase profits.”
